Capturing Emotions in Metal with Mastery<\/h2><\/div>
The bronze sculpture begins with the realization of a sketch on paper of the piece to be made, once the idea is captured we will proceed to the realization of a model, which can be in various materials, such as wood, polystyrene, clay, etc.. Subsequently, the mold will be made for casting in bronze.<\/p>\n

A large graphite crucible, originating from a furnace, may be filled with bronze ingots to be finished with bronze sculpture. The metal begins to melt at 1700 \u00b0 C. The bronze seizes and when it stops flowing and shows with the cold, this can occur if the molten bronze is poured into a shell at room temperature. On its side, and at the same time the bronze is being heated in a natural gas furnace, the ceramic shell is heated in a furnace to about 1100 \u00b0 F.<\/p>\n

When this process is started, the figure begins to be lifted with a crane from the gas boiler. At the same time, the shiny ceramic shells are carried out of the kiln to the pouring area. One craftsman with the controls and another craftsman has to maintain the balance of the process which is known as “dead man”. A third craftsman of the casting team pushes on the surface of the molten bronze.

Pouring everything is very fast and very accurate. After casting, it is the process during which the investment in the metal is removed. Approximately one hour after pouring, the part cools sufficiently to handle. Skill and strength combine with hammers and chisels to bring down the investment in the newly solidified metal. Gates and sprues should also be removed with a high intensity electrical arc that can cut through bronze medal like butter. The final step is for sandblasting the fine investment of the bronze medal.
